The three tests every rated door passes
- TAS 201, large missile impact: a 9-pound 2×4 fired at the door at 50 feet per second, twice, at the corners.
- TAS 202, static pressure: sustained positive and negative wind load, the push and the suction of a storm.
- TAS 203, cyclic pressure: thousands of pressure cycles, the way gusts actually hit a door for hours.
Palm Beach County sits in the Wind-Borne Debris Region, with design wind speeds of 160 to 170 mph. A door approved under a Florida Product Approval or a Miami-Dade NOA is what the county inspector, and your insurer, look for.

Questions about hurricane-rated garage doors
For any new or replacement door, yes. The county is in the Wind-Borne Debris Region under the Florida Building Code, and the permit application needs a Florida Product Approval or NOA number that meets the design pressure for your address.

Sometimes. Manufacturer-approved bracing kits exist for specific door models and raise them to a rated pressure. They don't work on every door, and a kit on an unlabeled door doesn't create a label. We'll check yours for free.
Both certify testing to Florida standards. A Miami-Dade NOA is accepted everywhere in the state, including the High-Velocity zone. An FL# is accepted in Palm Beach County but not inside Miami-Dade or Broward. For a Palm Beach home, either works.
