What we do about it
- Cables: when one frays or jumps the drum, we replace both and re-tension the system. Replacing one is how you get a second call in three months.
- Rollers: worn steel rollers are the number one cause of noise. Nylon ball-bearing rollers make the door quieter than it was new.
- Tracks and hinges: we straighten bent track when it's safe and replace it when it isn't. Hinges are checked by number.
- Panels: single-panel replacement when the manufacturer still makes it; honest advice about a new door when they don't.
- Off-track doors: we never force them back. The door comes down safely, the cause gets fixed, then it goes back on.
