What we do about it
- Torsion springs: we measure the wire size, length and inside diameter and match the spring to your door's weight, not just to a stock number. Wrong spring means a door that flies up or won't stay put.
- Extension springs: older single-car doors. We replace them in pairs and add the safety cables that should have been there from the start.
- Both or one? If the second spring is the same age, we quote both up front and explain why. If it's new, we say so and replace one.
- Coastal-grade hardware: galvanized springs and cables east of I-95, where salt air eats standard steel in a few years.
- Balance and safety test: the door stays put at halfway, the opener force is set, the reverse works.

Questions about garage door spring repair
We'd rather you didn't. A torsion spring holds several hundred pounds of stored energy, and the injuries are hands and faces. It's the one garage door job where the YouTube video leaves out the part that matters.
Cycle life. A standard spring is rated for about 10,000 open-close cycles, roughly 7 to 10 years for most families. Salt air near the coast shortens that. High-cycle springs rated for 25,000+ are available if you use the garage as your front door.
If both are the same age, yes, and we'll quote both before starting. The second one is on the same clock. If one spring was replaced recently, we'll replace only the broken one.
